While playing the electric guitar, is it bad to pick too close to the bridge?
Q. (I play rock). I noticed that most guitarists pick the strings more up the bridge then i do. Im trying to play up more but ive gotten too used to playing near the bridge. I also rest my hand on the bridge. Any Suggestions?
Asked by dan - Thu Jun 11 17:25:33 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. This depends on whether or not you have a suspended bridge or a fixed bridge. Suspended bridges aren't entirely bolted to the guitar, so they are able to wobble. Resting your hand on a suspended bridge can give you a nice tremolo effect (kind of like a whammy bar) but it also screws with your tuning. In contrast, resting your hand on a fixed bridge shouldn't have any effects (good or bad). Overall, I don't think I would call it bad to rest your hand on the bridge. You just might want to be careful of the tuning! Good luck and have fun! :)

A. My guess is you are playing Bridge on Yahoo? My guess is you have joined a table?... If so: (1) At the bottom of the screen, in the center, you will see a white box. (2) It is deviated with a small top part and a large bottom part. (3) Type in message in the small top part and press [Enter] key on your keyboard. (4) If you see your name and the message in the bottom part, then your message was sent.

How do I send instant messages while playing bridge?
Q. i want to be able to chat with others at the table.
Asked by pwfarmgirl - Mon Feb 26 09:01:36 2007 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Sadly, Yahoo disabled IMs at the table a long while ago. I think that was a mistake but that's life. The worst part of it is they left the interface present and active - so it looks like you can send a message and the other person is ignoring you. The best alternative now is to use Messenger - if the other player is signed in, then you'll be able to chat that way.

Several months ago yahoo installed a program to catch web cam bots. People started getting banned by the hundreds, now most people know about this program. But it still catches a few in their eagerness to get back to the game they got booted or disconnected from. The problem now is that yahoo has added new technology in it s efforts to stop the newest wave of sex cam bots. And like the older version it s got lots of glitches .Now doing even common things like table hopping, chatting fast and a lot in lobby. Can get you banned by yahoo. Q. How to build a bridge with 10 playing cards and masking tape. It must hold at least two science books.?
Asked by Peggy C - Thu Oct 29 08:56:35 2009 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Cards are actually quite strong. The trick is to keep them from bending. So, what you need to do is roll all the supporting cards into cylinders. Using this system, I just rolled a single playing card into a cylinder and I supported two books--one of which was a phone book. It collapsed on when I added the third book. Take a card Turn it horizontal and roll it into a large diameter cylinder. The edges should overlap slightly. Tape. You will have enough vertical support with two of these cylinders, but you might want to use four for overkill. Build the horizontal structure per Civ A, above. But you might want to experiment with tightly roll the card acting as cross beams.

One of two things happened ... you got booted ..or... disconnected and logged in again right away and the new program technology glitched and barred you for it (unfairly)... Or ... you violated Yahoo Terms Of Service and Yahoo's new programming to catch spammers, people running booter programs, or scroller… [cont.]

playing near the bridge on bass guitar?
Q. i've seen a lot of bass plays playing fingerstyle near the bridge, i'm assuming for a funkier, tighter sound. i generally play more towards the fretboard, and obviously, because the strings are closer together, it's a lot easier to mute.. i'm wondering if anyone has any tips on muting when i play by the bridge. i've seen people play with their thumbs on the pickup the entire time and still mute perfectly, yet when i try this, all the strings ring like mad.
Asked by watch_me.xplode - Wed Jun 3 15:29:59 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. I've been learning the bass since Nov 2008 and I'm finally beginning to learn how to mute my strings. I do play with my thumb on the pickup the entire time. My teacher told me to use my ring and pinkie fingers of my right hand to mute. I use my pinkie to mute the E string and my ring finger to mute the A string. It took some practice at first because I could never remember to take my fingers off the strings again but I'm finally getting the hang of it. That's the only muting technique I've learned so far for the right hand. But I don't think this really helps say if I have to play the D or G string and then go back to the E or A. I've been kind of using my left hand to mute those. Hope this helps you.

Q. What is the difference between bridge size and poker size playing cards?
Asked by ligeglad - Sat Dec 10 03:23:41 2005 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Playing cards are 3.5" in height. Poker (Wide) size cards are 2.5" (62mm) wide and Bridge size cards are 2.25" (57mm) wide. Most casinos and poker rooms use bridge size (yes, bridge) cards because they are easier to handle and shuffle than the larger poker size cards. Please note that the above answer is slightly incorrect. Poker size cards are wider compared to bridge size Also please consider using plastic cards. They are much much longer lasting and can even be washed if they get dirty.

What is the beer card when playing contract bridge?
Q. It is not part of the official rules of Bridge, but there is a tradition among some players that if the declarer succeeds in making the contract and wins the last trick with the beer card, dummy must buy the declarer a beer. In the same way, if the opponents defeat the contract and one of them wins the last trick with the beer card, the opponent who wins the last trick is bought a beer by the other opponent.
Asked by vercast - Sat Aug 26 12:15:19 2006 - - 1 Answers - 2 Comments

A. The beer card or the 7 of diamonds is a card in the card game of bridge which is given a special importance in popular bridge sub-culture. The "beer card rule" is not an official part of the rules of bridge but it is played commonly in universities in the United Kingdom and elsewhere. The basic rule is that, if a player wins the last trick of the hand with the 7 of diamonds, his partner must buy them a pint of beer. The additional requirements vary depending whether the beer card trick winner is the declarer or one of the defenders. For the declarer, the requirements are that: Must make contract, Must win last trick with the 7, Diamonds must not be trumps (though some people play that only diamond part scores are excluded), Must take… [cont.]
